Love this place. Four of us went for lunch and the prices were good and the food and service and ambiance were excellent. This lovation was the old La Fonda but currently it looks totally different and what a great job they did on the place. We had the San Antonio enchilida lunch special and my friends had the nachos plate and the street tacos and they were all super and very fresh. What a great place!

We went on a Sunday for the first time and it was excellent. It was the brunch menu and the eggs Benedict and strong margarita. Restaurant decor was so pretty sat at the bar. Server was very nice . Then they had a mariachi band and it was great

Everything was good- just kind of surprised that they don't serve chips until after 3 unless you order chips & queso. We sat at the bar- fun environment- drinks were a tad bit on the pricey end in my opinion. We'll be back though!

First of all, make reservations if you're a big group & want to avoid 1-2 hour wait. Came here Sat night with friends (we made reservations for 3ppl) and it was great. Food: 9/10 Service: 8/10 (it was busy so our waiter took his time) Ambiance: 10/10 They have a DJ Saturday nights so if you don't like loud music, ask to sit away from DJ but we were perfectly fine. Can't wait to come again!!

Great ambiance with Mariachi Music and delicious food and drinks! Great customer service as well.

1st time and it was great! Food was delicious and the drinks were amazing. Presentation was awesome.

.Came here for our first family meal back in Texas! We've been coming to this location for years since it's close to my grandmother's house and this was my first time going since they changed from La Fonda to Maria Bonita - large menu, great refresh of the interior, and friendly service. I believe they have a happy hour, bar area is really nice, mariachis are here for live music a few days a week. We started with the classic bean and cheese nachos and each had different entrees - I had the Maria Bonita combo with cheese enchiladas, carne guisada, rice, beans and fresh tortillas. Everything was so good and the portion was large, so I took a lot home. My husband had the Enchiladas Verdes, and the sauce was very tart and limey - not a fave. Others in our group enjoyed their enchiladas, tostadas, crispy tacos, etc. Pricing was fair, most of us had leftovers, love how they've upgraded the decor here!

Some of the best birria I've had, it was so good. I love the vibe this place is giving off with its cute neon signs and pretty stained glass throughout the restaurant. I know Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen in San Antonio but this one has been added to my favs. They were very busy on a Saturday evening but the service was good and drinks were strong. They even do happy hour on the weekends till 6. Can't wait to go back!

Hello Maria Bonita! I've been here 3 times since my first go. The ambiance is lovely & lively. There's plenty of space inside with a few tables on a small patio out front. The parking is odd, so follow the signs on the side of restaurant and around the back. The first time I came was on national Margarita day and it seemed like they were celebrating as they had a DJ. Fun! They also had the St. Patty's day balloon arch up & out the last time I went, so it seems they like to celebrate the things! There's plenty of staff helping with service, bringing chips & salsa to start, clearing plates & drink cups when done, etc. The bar is the heart of the spot and in the center of it all. The drinks are fantastic too! I've tried the Tamarindo martini and yum!! Also, happy hour strawberry, prickly pear with tajin rim. Preferred the strawberry. So delicious & it served y'all! The first time we came for happy hour but ordered the appetizer sampler. It comes with flautas, quesadillas, beef fajita nachos & small sides of queso, guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños. Plenty! And all were good!! Ordered this same appetizer for the table the next time, but also had the cheese enchilada plate. Served hot and fresh with red tortillas & rolled up in cheesy goodness! The enchilada gravy was yummy too! Rice and beans were typical and good. There's a small insert for seasonal specials & my mon got the poblano mozzarella nachos. Interesting, unique & yummy! Last time I tried the enchiladas verdes & an order of chips & queso. Queso got thick and cold pretty quick, but it was good while it was warm. Enchiladas verdes were tangy and creamy with chicken and white cheese & I like them. I think I liked the cheese better, but that doesn't mean they weren't good too. This is definitely one of the new go to spot for good drinks, good food and good service! P.S. they have a check in feature here on Yelp, but it gets disabled during busy times. Which is likely during happy hour!! Oh! There's also a drive thru!! Haven't used it, but love the option!

I have heard about this place from a couple of coworkers. My best friend and I were looking for somewhere to eat and celebrate her birthday. I told her about this place so we decided to stop by. When we walked in they let us know that it would be a 45 minute wait since they were doing a shift change. The hostess let us know we can sit and the bar. We sat down at the bar and ordered a flight of drinks. I like my margarita flight. My bestie ordered a specialty flight. We didn't wait too long and the hostess asked if we were still interested in a table. Once seated at our table we ordered some more drinks and food. I ordered the Spanish and mushroom enchilada and she ordered Enchiladas verde. The presentation to everything was great. My plate was absolutely delicious. I think I just found my new spot for enchiladas and drinks. My bestie loved her plate. Everything was perfect and delicious. Would definitely recommend this place. Service is great, food was amazing, drinks have a nice kick to them. This place is family friendly. We saw all sorts of people celebrating different occasions. Do yourself a favor and stop in. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I wasn't and will definitely be back. Parking seems a little tricky when they busy but other than that great experience.
